« Here three saints dwelled: Francis, Anthony, and Bonaventure. Here three thieves chose the lives of saints. Here many esteemed men died in the Lord. Thus, blessed be all those who dwell in this your house, Oh Lord! », reads a Latin inscription in the chapel. The Franciscan presence here has been documented since 1213, and this is the site of the conversion of the three thieves (cf. FF 1858). The tipical elements of Franciscan settlements are all present here: water, ravines, and stone.
